The rebbe never meant for women to wear wigs that look incredibly more attracting than their natural hair ever was. The wigs women wear now make it impossible most of the time to tell if a woman is married! The rebbe meant women should wear the cheap and not so real looking wigs that were available when he was living. I'm a Chabad woman and my husband is Sephardi and I proudly wear a traditional wrap which is popular now and is made up of two or more layers that I would never casually remove . This wrap shoes no hair.shoshanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09404516906707765954noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9075913110117812115.post-16014389230023976472016-02-25T01:56:12.051-08:002016-02-25T01:56:12.051-08:00PS There are photos of frum ladies at the Kotel, w...PS There are photos of frum ladies at the Kotel, wearing scarves as of the late 1800's and early 20th C.Neshamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06326762185596512130noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9075913110117812115.post-24362221004173421572016-02-25T01:54:40.037-08:002016-02-25T01:54:40.037-08:00About the coverings, I am all for the mitpachat. T...About the coverings, I am all for the mitpachat. The scarf is what our Immahot wore, and through the ages. Only recently (WWI and II) were sheitels introduced, because of antisemitism. The Jews were noticeable due to the scarves, as the non-Jewish women took off their scarves. However, this being said, the business of not letting one single hair show is, I believe, a chumra of the very extreme. I don't believe what became the 'halacha' (which is from daas Yehuda) stipulates not one single hair can show. The fact that women "cover" their hair with a scarf or hat is appropriate and adequate. We live in an age of extremes in all facets of this world. Cover absolutely yes! Because the reason is to distinguish a married from a single, because of bocherim and men. Therefore the argument of wearing wigs that cover the head and disguise that single perturbing hair, is, in my humble opinion, not necessary. It has become another fashion-plate and not what is intended. Please do not misinterpret my words.Neshamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06326762185596512130noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9075913110117812115.post-27841752655449115522016-02-24T20:51:44.234-08:002016-02-24T20:51:44.234-08:00watch the video on the top right side barwatch the video on the top right side barGoldieZPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11417548124184678390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9075913110117812115.post-43813087033995730142016-02-24T20:50:39.735-08:002016-02-24T20:50:39.735-08:00The Rebbe would object to the long seductive wigs ...The Rebbe would object to the long seductive wigs of today. The Rabbi of Kfar Chabad, Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi, released a letter in which he warns of the ‘long wig’ phenomenon.
