One man was killed and three others were injured after being struck by what is believed to be a meteorite near Bharathidasan Engineering College in Vallore on Saturday. The bus driver who was sitting in his vehicle near the impact site is believed to be the first human in recorded history to die in such manner.
Two gardeners and a college student were injured and hospitalised, while surrounding buildings and vehicles were left with shattered windows following the impact.
Authorities were investigating the 1.2 meter-deep (4 ft) crater, as well as samples of debris at the time of writing in order to determine the object's origin and whether it can be classified as a meteorite. GRAPHIC!
