Now it came to pass when he drew closer to the camp and saw the calf and the dances, that Moses' anger was kindled, and he flung the tablets Square, Not Round from his hands, shattering them at the foot of the mountain. [Ki Tisa 32:19]Binyamin closes by calling once again for everyone to do real teshuvah and return to Hashem completely. Women - throw away the wigs - Oh, I updated this post do take a peak., wash off the make-up, dress modestly,....
Are we going to greet Moshiach looking like a raccoon? |
LAST WEEK THERE WAS a connection from the parshah to the story of Purim through the clothing of the Kohen Gadol. This week the connection to Purim is the mitzvah with which the parshah begins, Machtzis HaShekel, the half-shekel collected for each Jew for the census:
Emuna provides genuine clarity; a higher spiritual sensitivity, a reason for all events and a solution to one’s difficulties. Emuna brings a person to ‘see’ what he originally believed in principle. A great reward to living a life of emuna is attaining a tangible awareness of the presence of G-d. One of the biggest values in learning and living a life of emuna is reaching a place of inner composure and well-being which comes as a result of knowing that there is a G-d who loves us and is intimately involved in every aspect of our lives. The shift to living a life of emuna needs to be taught and practiced daily. It is for this purpose the Daily Dose of Emuna was created. It is my genuine hope that you will develop emuna vision by learning Emuna together with the thousands who have already begun.

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO (to be part of the mitzvah)?
PROTEST: You can go here to sign a petition that will go to Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon. You can look for others as well.
EDUCATE YOURSELF: Read all you can about the Hilltop Youth and lifestyle. There’s plenty of negative commentary elsewhere; here are two positive articles so far: Kumi Ori | The Baladim | More are coming. If you can, visit them. See for yourself. Be sure to wear your hiking clothes and boots!
Wigs cover a woman's hair the best way possible. It is absolutely the best way to go. This is the way the Lubavitcher Rebbe preferred ladies to cover their hair.
ReplyDeleteThe Rebbe had several reasons why he advised women to cover with a wig. The rebbe never meant for women to wear wigs that look incredibly more attracting than their natural hair ever was. The wigs women wear now make it impossible most of the time to tell if a woman is married! The rebbe meant women should wear the cheap and not so real looking wigs that were available when he was living. I'm a Chabad woman and my husband is Sephardi and I proudly wear a traditional wrap which is popular now and is made up of two or more layers that I would never casually remove . This wrap shoes no hair.
DeleteShows no hair! Sorry for typos:)
DeleteThe Rebbe would object to the long seductive wigs of today. The Rabbi of Kfar Chabad, Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi, released a letter in which he warns of the ‘long wig’ phenomenon. In the letter, which was addressed to hanhalah of Beis Rivkah in Kfar, he warns that long wigs are not proper hair coverings.
ReplyDeleteOpening his letter Rabbi Ashkenazi says that he is coming to warn against a ‘growing breach’ in the fashion with which woman have been covering their hair.
Rabbis Ashkenazi writes that “Rabonim, and chiefly the Rebbe, preferred that women cover their hair with a wig and not with a tichel since the wig will cover the entire head along with the hair on the sides.” Adding that its obvious that this should be noticed as a ‘foreign’ covering and not like natural hair.
In his letter he says that “long and wild wigs, even more so when they are made of real hair whose propose is to look like real and natural hair, cannot be considered as a proper hair coverings by a wig.”
In his letter he asked the hanhalah to only allow wigs that fall till the shoulders and not any longer.

ReplyDeleteGoldie, good work again!!!
DeleteWhen I worked as a security hostess, I use to wear a wig because of the rules of the company.
The men looked at me more then ever, and that was not funny!!!
I guess the best way to really become TZENUA, is to going home and just be JEWISH.
Here in Israel we are home, safe and can become proud daughters of TORAH!
With a mitpachat, barret we can be beautiful mothers, grandmothers, wives...of a healthy thinking and really TORAH/HALACHA respecting Jewish men. Its up to us.
How can ever someone think that by wearing hair of another women or even a promiscuous goya(!!!) we can preserve the holiness of Am Israel???!!
Wake up from the lie of goyim beautiful daughters of Israel, we are not them, be HOLY!!!
About the coverings, I am all for the mitpachat. The scarf is what our Immahot wore, and through the ages. Only recently (WWI and II) were sheitels introduced, because of antisemitism. The Jews were noticeable due to the scarves, as the non-Jewish women took off their scarves. However, this being said, the business of not letting one single hair show is, I believe, a chumra of the very extreme. I don't believe what became the 'halacha' (which is from daas Yehuda) stipulates not one single hair can show. The fact that women "cover" their hair with a scarf or hat is appropriate and adequate. We live in an age of extremes in all facets of this world. Cover absolutely yes! Because the reason is to distinguish a married from a single, because of bocherim and men. Therefore the argument of wearing wigs that cover the head and disguise that single perturbing hair, is, in my humble opinion, not necessary. It has become another fashion-plate and not what is intended. Please do not misinterpret my words.
ReplyDeletePS There are photos of frum ladies at the Kotel, wearing scarves as of the late 1800's and early 20th C.
ReplyDeleteYou may be well meaning but completely opposite from the truth in this case. The Rebbe encouraged women to wear the most beautiful sheatel possible. Please see the link for the Rebbe's approach.

Same way as the Lubavitch went, went the hair covering.
DeletePlease read on Israel613.com
About Lubavitch.
Then search for pea nochrit, the real meaning.
Galut is over.
Come home= turn to Hashem.
Your Jewish NESHAMA should have no objection.
Turn to Hashem and ask HIM to let you see the TRUTH.
The halacha cannot be changed.
The mamzer yeshu already tried and after him many others, or their followers.
No need for lies, let the klippot fall down.
TO OUR GOOD FRIENDS OF CHABAD LUBAVITCH:
WHAT A GREAT WORK YOU DO ON BEHALF OF ALL JEWS. YOU ARE ALWAYS INVOLVED IN GREAT ACTS OF KINDNESS TOWARDS THE JEWISH PEOPLE, BRINGING THEM CLOSER TO TORAH AND MITZVOT
THERE IS NO ONE ELSE THAT DOES AS MUCH KINDNESS AS YOU DO, FOTUNATE IS YOUR LOT
NEVERTHELESS BE WARNED ABOUT SOME TROUBLING DEVELOPMENTS WHICH YOU SHOULD BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT
YOU ARE MAKING THE REBBE INTO A FALSE MESSIAH AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ALL THIS WILL LEAD TO?
PLEASE LEARN HOW TO LOOSE, IF THE REBBE IS JUST THE REBBE, IS THAT NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU?
LET HASHEM DECIDE WHO THE MOSHIACH IS, BE PATIENT, BECAUSE NOBODY KNOWS YET WHO THE MOSHIACH WILL BE.
Kol tuv.
